British actor Benedict Cumberbatch has become one of the most in demand actors in Hollywood over the past few years, so it was no surprise when Marvel came calling. Benedict will take on the role of Doctor Strange in the big screen adaptation of the comic book character but he still has a few more projects to complete before then.

Doctor Strange is coming to the big screen
Cumberbatch told The Wall Street Journal, "I’m really excited about it, about working with Scott whose imagination is endless, and all the boys and girls at Marvel who know what they’re doing. I’ve got a few things to get under my belt first. I’ve got to do that little stage production of “Hamlet” in the summer and the Christmas special of “Sherlock,” which we start shooting in about three days’ time – Whoops! Yeah, that’s there."
As well as talking about what projects he has coming up before he can officially begin shooting the Marvel movie Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch also went on to talk about what drew him to accepting the role. Benedict says that there was never any risk in taking on the role of Doctor Strange because Marvel always seem to get it right when it comes to their big screen adaptations of comic book characters.

Benedict Cumberbatch has more projects before Doctor Strange
Cumberbatch added, "I don’t think it’s a risk because of Marvel. Marvel is a stable of bringing out ordinary comic characters and turning them into screen-like gods. It’s very different, it’s an Astral Plane. There’s a huge new element to this Marvel universe that’s going to be employed in building this story and this character."
So far, all we know about the Doctor Strange movie is that Benedict Cumberbatch has been cast in the lead role, with no other casting news to speak of, as of yet. We will no doubt get plenty more over the coming weeks and months, as we get closer to the start of production. Doctor Strange will be directed by Scott Derrickson and is scheduled for release on November 4, 2016.
