There has been a lot of hiccups when it comes to the Gambit solo movie, with Channing Tatum playing the lead role, before then supposedly pulling out, before then revealing that he was playing the role after all. After that, there was news that complications in the script meant that the production date would have to get pushed back, which has led to director Rupert Wyatt having to pull out of the project.
Rupert was clearly disappointed at having to leave the Gambit movie, issuing an official statement which read, "I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film."
It is not only Rupert Wyatt who was disappointed at having to pull out of the Gambit movie, as plenty of fans were also quick to voice their disappointment at losing the director. One disgruntled fan moaned, "Rupert Wyatt was the most exciting part of Gambit, not too fussed about the movie now," while another added, "Doesn't matter who they get in now, Rupert Wyatt is irreplaceable."
Well, the fact remains that Rupert Wyatt is going to have to get replaced and it is going to be interesting to see who now comes on board to direct the Gambit standalone movie. With production now being moved to an early 2016 start date, it is likely that we will see the Gambit release date being pushed back to some time in 2017.
Who would you like to see directing the Gambit movie?
