It is probably fair to say that comic book movies have been taking over in Hollywood for quite a few years now and they really do seem to be dominating the movie business, with more and more comic book movies being released year on year. It is not surprising then, there have already been a number of stars who have spoken out against comic book movies and how they are impacting the industry.
The latest big name star to speak out against comic book movies is the Hollywood legend Jodie Foster, who has insisted that these big budget blockbusters are destroying what movie making is all about. Jodie says that she would only ever be tempted to make a comic book movie, if the story was right and if it was not a huge budget with crazy special effects.
Foster shared, "Going to the movies has become like a theme park. Studios making bad content in order to appeal to the masses and shareholders is like fracking – you get the best return right now but you wreck the earth. It’s ruining the viewing habits of the American population and then ultimately the rest of the world. I don’t want to make $200 million movies about superheroes."
Well no disrespect to Jodie Foster and everyone is entitled to an opinion but, as long as these big budget comic book movies are continuing to make huge amounts of money at the box office, they will continue to get made, so do not expect to see them coming to an end any time soon.
