Lionel Richie is consider a legend in the music World and it is no surprise, considering he has been in the music industry across five decades. With Lionel's music as relevant today, as it was back in the 70s, he says that it is all down to the new generation, such as Bruno Mars and Daft Punk.
The 63-year-old star explained, "The new generation are discovering that guys like me can do melodies. Bruno Mars is a killer for melodies and lyrics, and he came to my show. He asked me afterwards, 'Can you tell me how you do it?' and I said, 'Don't worry, you're doing just fine'."
He added, "These new guys are hungry for longevity. Daft Punk's album shares some of that R&B sound, and they know it's all about writing great songs. The words of 'Three Times A Lady' apply in 2013 just as they did in 1978, but at the time disco was happening and I was worried about being a laughing-stock."
Lionel Richie will appear with Jennifer Lopez at the Barclaycard British Summer Time festival this summer, at London's Hyde Park on July 12. Tickets for the upcoming festival are on available to buy now.
