It was way back in 2004 that Russian beauty Maria Sharapova announced herself on the world stage, shocking the world by winning Wimbledon at the age of just 17. Many people felt that this was the beginning of a new era of tennis, with a lot of people tipping Maria to go on to become a dominant force in the game, winning title after title and rivalling Serena Williams.

Unfortunately though, this has not been the case for Maria Sharapova, who has only gone on to win four more grand slam titles since then, failing to win another Wimbledon title along the way. Since her huge Wimbledon win in 2004, we have only seen Maria appearing in one other Wimbledon final, where she lost to the left-handed star Petra Kvitova in straight sets in 2011.
With Maria Sharapova now 28 years old, time is fast running out for her to win that elusive second Wimbledon title, especially with Serena Williams still looking amazing on the grass court. It would be a shame to see Maria retire from tennis without managing to get her hands on that impressive trophy at least one more time and we are sure that she is as eager as ever to win Wimbledon again.

While Maria Sharapova will always be remembered in tennis, due to her incredible looks as well as her ability as a player, she will no doubt always look back and feel that she should have won more in the sport. With that said, she still has a few years left in the game yet, so she could go on to win a few more titles yet.
Do you think we will ever see Maria Sharapova win another Wimbledon title?
