While we often see a movie getting announced, then going through the usual stages, up to finally getting released, all within a fairly short amount of time, especially when it comes to comic book movies these days, there are plenty of movie projects that get announced, yet never seem to make any real progress, finding itself stuck in development hell, with no idea when it will ever actually get made.
That brings us to the movie The Swinging Lantern Stories, which was first talked about way back in 2007, when it looked like we were going to see the planned project getting made. Things began quite smoothly, with the script being written and casting taking place in 2008. However, since then, things have stalled and there has not been any real progress.
We do know that Lesley Paterson and Ian Stokell were working on the script for The Swinging Lantern Stories, and it was believed that they had finally finished writting the script sometime around late 2013 and early 2014. Meanwhile, it was believed that we were going to see Hollywood actresses Rebecca Romijn and Carla Gugino starring in the film, although we have no idea what is happening now.
While Carla Gugino and Rebecca Romijn are still linked to roles in The Swinging Lantern Stories, there is no director on board for the project and no word of a production start date for the film. At this moment in time, it does look doubtful that we will ever get to see The Swinging Lantern Stories get made but we will keep you posted with any progress it makes.
