When it was announced that a Guardians of the Galaxy movie was being brought to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there were many people who were unsure about the project, since these characters were not the most well-known of comic book characters. However, Guardians of the Galaxy went on to become a huge success, leading to a sequel being made and the characters joining the next Avengers movie.
Now, with the DC Extended Universe still trying to play catch up, we are going to get a Shazam movie, which will see actor Zachary Levi taking on the lead role in the film. Zacharay has now been talking about what the fans can expect from the Shazam movie, claiming that he believes that the project will go on to have a similar impact for the DCEU that Guardians of the Galaxy had for the MCU.
Levi explained, "James Gunn and the gang killed it. It brought so much heart and humor and yeah, I think it was kind of like this dark horse that took everybody by storm and I think Shazam kind of has the possibility to do that because Shazam’s not, for all intents and purposes, not Supes it’s not Batman, it’s not Wonder Woman, it’s not what people [expect.]"
It will certainly be interesting to see how the fans do respond to a Shazam movie and if the project will manage to help improve the ever faultering DCEU, although we still have a long time to wait, with Shazam not due to hit the big screen until April 5, 2019 in both the US and the UK.
