British acting superstar Tom Hiddleston might be one of the most popular and talented stars in Hollywood today, but it seems that when things are not scripted for him, they can go very wrong for him indeed. Well, that certainly seemed to be the case at the recent Golden Globes, where he gave us that very cringey speech, which we are sure you have all seen and heard by now.
Tom Hiddleston took to the stage to accept the award for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series for The Night Manager, when he seemed to want to impress people with his humanitarian work more than anything else. Now though, Tom has come out to talk about that speech, apologising for the way it came across and blaming his nerves for the rambling.
Hiddleston took to his official Facebook account, to tell his fans and followers, "I completely agree that my speech at the Golden Globes last night was inelegantly expressed. In truth, I was very nervous, and my words just came out wrong."
He added, "Sincerely, my only intention was to salute the incredible bravery and courage of the men and women who work so tirelessly for UNICEF UK, Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), and World Food Programme, and the children of South Sudan, who continue to find hope and joy in the most difficult conditions. I apologise that my nerves got the better of me."
